Introducing Lisa Stevens

Writer

As an author and blogger, Lisa’s writing is unedited and candid about her life’s triumphs, travails, and tragedies. She has compiled and condensed decades of private and personal experiences into words full of life advice. After a trip to Spain in 2022, her writing theme changed course, and she became a reluctant travel writer.

College Admissions Consultant

When Lisa’s article - detailing her son’s search for an ideal college as a Division I athlete - was published in a national magazine, this event launched an unexpected career in college admissions coaching. Her next book is a guidebook on writing the college admissions essay – written for high school students, parents, and secondary educators.

Early Childhood Reading and Dyslexic Remediation Tutor

Lisa’s early professional career began in downtown Houston as a Vice President of Business Development. To focus her time and attention on her two young sons, Lisa made a most difficult decision to leave behind her valued career. When Lisa’s older son was diagnosed with dyslexia at age seven, she was accepted into a nationally recognized training curriculum for educators. Even though she was not a teacher and did not have a degree in education – she was granted a place in the program. She has embarked on a lifelong mission as an educational advocate for her beloved son…and later, for her many students over the years.

Now that her two sons have long graduated from college and have chosen their own paths thousands of miles away from home, Lisa and her husband, David, enjoy a ‘not-so-empty nest’ with their adorable and precious chihuahua named Oliver. Lisa, a self-professed private person, enjoys a quiet lifestyle full of writing, reading biographies, and organizing just about everything. (She is a huge fan of KonMari!). Her days are filled with Bible Study, needlepointing, yoga, and Tai Chi.
